Court restrains SBI officers

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Saturday restrained the State Bank of India Officers' Association from organising agitations within 500-metre radius of the Delhi Circle's branches of the bank.

The Association has called for one-day token strike in the Delhi Circle on Monday.

Justice J. P. Singh passed the order on a suit by the bank and issued a notice, returnable on July 3, to the Association.

The bank in its suit expressed apprehension that the members of the Association might resort to violence and disrupt work on the strike day and the agitation might continue beyond June 18.

Mr. Justice Singh said: "The Association, its agents, associates, members and sympathisers are restrained till the next date, July 3, from holding demonstration, organising dharna, picketing, sloganeering, using force to drive out the employees and resorting to any sort of direct action in and around and within a radius of 500 metres of all the office premises/branches of the bank in the Delhi Circle.''
