Realtor held for `kidnapping'

Staff Reporter

The city police on Saturday arrested manager of a real estate company on charges of kidnapping a person and confining him in his house at Madhavnagar in Nizamabad district since May 2. The police raided the house of M. Prem Chander, 30, in Nizamabad and rescued P. Nani Babu, 20. DCP (Task Force) V. B. Kamalasan Reddy told reporters that Nani's elder brother, Srinivas, used to work as a chef in Prem's house in Begumpet.

In April, Srinivas allegedly stole a cheque of Rs.60,000 and fled from the house. It was then that Prem kidnapped Nani to recover the amount from Srinivas, he said.

On Friday, Prem telephoned Nani's father, Satyanarayana, and threatened him that he would kill his son if he failed to return the money. Satyanarayana informed the matter to Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh.

"After receiving instructions from the Commissioner, we traced the call and rescued Nani within 12 hours," the DCP said. Efforts are on to trace Srinivas.
