‘Soft skills should be taught to rural candidates’ ‘Most youth suffer from lack of confidence’
BANGALORE: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti on Friday urged soft-skills trainers and other private firms launching finishing schools to focus on the bright and hardworking job aspirants from rural Karnataka, particularly those from the north Karnataka region. Launching the “YGen Finishing School” here, Mr. Horatti said programmes designed to equip graduating students with industry skills had to be made available to rural students, who were currently denied guidance. He said the finishing school would turn out to be a unique confidence building exercise for young talent. “No matter what their higher qualifications are, most young people suffer from lack of confidence in the early period of their services in the organisation. The Finishing School will squeeze the gestation period for the employee and the employer resulting in a perfect synergy and assure seamless delivery of service results,” he said. Mr. Horatti said the training to performance chain would thus be made more subtle and ensure holistic HR process. YGen, as a part of its Human Resources Development programme, imparts structured pre-recruitment screening and training programmes for fresh graduates, and postgraduate students aspiring to build their careers through recruitment in reputed firms. The company recently arranged a pre-recruitment assessment session at the HKBK Engineering College, which attracted about 300 students.
