THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac has called for an intense and open debate between health experts and journalists on the media coverage of the recent outbreak of fever in the State. The Minister made this appeal while speaking after releasing ‘Kerala: Fifty Years and Beyond,’ a Festschrift for the renowned health activist C.R. Soman, at a function here on Saturday. He said the media coverage of the recent health issues in the State was reflective of the decadence that had set in the media and in society. Emphasising the need for effective public interventions to strengthen the health sector, Dr. Isaac said such interventions would be relevant and meaningful only if they stem from an informed public debate.
