BANGALORE: An eight-year-old boy, son of a senior executive of United Breweries Ltd, who was kidnapped on Wednesday from Koramangala police station limits, has been brought home. The police said Chandan Reddy, a Class III student, who was playing with his friends near his house in 6th Block, Koramangala, on Wednesday evening, did not return home. The police said kidnappers, who had befriended the boy, took him away in a car. In the night his father, C.C. Reddy, lodged a missing complaint with the Koramangala police. The next day, Mr. Reddy received calls from the kidnappers who demanded Rs. 10-lakh ransom for releasing the boy, the police said. Initially, the kidnappers asked Mr. Reddy to come to Mangalore and finally suggested Talcheri Railway Station in Kerala as the meeting point. The police team took Mr. Reddy to Talcheri, but the kidnappers abandoned the boy there and escaped “under the cover of darkness” early on Saturday. The boy has since been united with his father and mother Chandrika, a college lecturer.
