VIJAYAWADA: Unemployed youth in large numbers attended a job mela conducted by Big Bazar at the Employment Exchange here on Saturday. A unit of the Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited, Big Bazar plans to recruit over 100 persons at the basic level for its proposed ventures in the city and, consequently, invited applications from those who passed Intermediate and graduation. Youngsters began thronging the venue on the premises of Government ITI from 9 a.m. onwards with their resumes and certificates in hand. Following an announcement from the company that they would need only people in the age group of 18-25 years and a pass of Intermediate was a must, many aspirants returned disappointed. Three executives from the human resources wing of the Pantaloons conducted interviews to over 500 youngsters. Training programme
The company would be conducting a short-duration training programme in retail management for selected candidates in the city, before absorbing them into their organisation. Stating that the response was impressive, M.K. Novaha, manager (HR) of the company, said that quality of the workforce was above their expectations.
