Residents of Sangam Vihar in South Delhi on Sunday observed a bandh to protest against what they called the Delhi Government's failure to provide them with even basic amenities.

Addressing the gathering, senior Bharatiya Janata party leader Shatrughan Sinha advocated regularisation of 1,432 unauthorised colonies in which nearly 60 lakh people lived. Mr. Sinha accused the Sheila Dikshit Government of having completely failed in the past nine years in providing basic amenities to the people in the city. He said only the State Government was to be blamed for the power and water crisis. Speaking on the occasion, Saket MLA Vijay Jolly said it was disturbing to know that so many people were going without proper power and water supply and were living in unauthorised colonies.
