PUDUCHERRY The Puducherry Congress Ministry was expanded on Sunday with the induction of M. M. Kandasamy (Congress). Lt. Governor Mukut Mithi administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at a brief swearing-in ceremony at the Raj Nivas here. Forty-one-year old Kandasamy elected from the Bahoor (reserved) constituency in the May 2006 Assembly election took the oath in Tamil and in the name of god. With his induction, the strength of the 13-month-old ministry has risen to six. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and his Cabinet colleagues, AICC secretary P. Sudhakar Reddy, Members of Parliament V. Narayanasamy (Congress) and M. Ramadoss (Pattali Makkal Katchi), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Puducherry State committee convener, R. V. Janakiraman, CPI State committee secretary N. Kalainathan, general secretary of Puducherry PCC A. Gandhiraj, chairperson of Puducherry Municipal council B.Sridevi and the chairman of Oulgaret Municipal council N.S.J.Jayabal, legislators of different political parties, officials and former legislators were present. Earlier the Chief Secretary Pradip Mehra read out the presidential notification appointing Mr. Kandasamy. The portfolio for Mr. Kandasamy would be decided in the course of the day, the Chief Minister told The Hindu .
