VELLORE: Italian kitchen ventilation company Faber inaugurated its showroom here on Sunday. It displays a wide variety of electric chimneys and stoves with modern hobs (burners). One of the electric chimneys in the gallery boasts of a suction capacity of 1000 cubic metres per hour and zero-clogging and ‘easy to clean’ features. Adesh Kumar, national head, Faber, said electric chimneys were best suited for Indian cooking as they involved a lot of frying and use of spices that resulted in sooty kitchen walls. The system absorbed the sticky vapours and odours, saving users from the trouble of cleaning their kitchens. The prices of the chimneys ranged from Rs.1,990 to Rs.80,000. “The company produces 1.5 lakh electric chimneys per year in its factory in Pune and expects to achieve a turnover of Rs.100 crores this year,” he said. Different varieties of stoves with two, three and four burners are other attractions. “We use aluminium alloy hobs (burners) with an enamel cast iron plate, which is spill-proof”. The plate ensures that food articles do not directly spill on to the burner. The cost of a 2-burner stove was Rs.3990, while four-burner stoves ranged from anywhere between Rs.5,990 to Rs.15,990, he said. Vellore Collector Dharmendra Pratap Yadhav inaugurated the Faber gallery in the presence of Vellore Superintendent of Police N. Arivuselvam and Vellore Municipal Chairman P. Karthikeyan.
