ELURU: Minister for School Education Damodaram C. Rajanarasimha on Sunday said the government was taking steps to issue appointment letters to candidates who passed the District Selection Committee (DSC)-2006 examination by September-end. He was speaking at a meeting after honouring top 10 students who excelled in the SSC examination and teachers. It may be recalled that the DSC-2006 candidates had been agitating for posting. The Minister said that the government filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court in defence of its move for combined service rules for schoolteachers. Female literacy
The government also formed a delegation to meet President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, seeking his assent for the bill in favour of the combined service rules. Mr. Rajanarasimha said the government was contemplating upgrading all primary schools to upper primary schools in the State as part of the endeavour to promote female literacy. Surveys revealed that most of the girl students dropped out of school after completing 5th standard as they could not move out in pursuit of higher studies, he explained. District Education Officer N.I. Raju was present.
