VIZIANAGARAM: N. Ravindranath Babu, Officer on Special Duty, Parvathipuram, on Monday released two posters cautioning people against Maoists and also appealing to underground cadres to join the mainstream. At a press conference here on Monday, Mr. Ravindranath, while saying that the response to recently organised ’Jeevan Sravanthi’ in Parvathipuram was good, said that combing activity in the Agency was intensified during the last three days following detection of three claymore mines under Neelakantapuram police station limits on Sunday and two landmines under Elwinpet police station limits on Saturday. Violation of rights
He said minor tribal girls and boys were being lured and recruited into the party and those trying to return to the mainstream were being threatened with dire consequences. He said the Maoists had also threatened to take action if tribal youth attended homeguards and trainee constable selections. The intimidation tactics were a violation of human rights and the police would not hesitate to register cases if any one lodged a complaint, he added. He said that the joint combing operations along the Andhra-Orissa Border along with their counterparts in Orissa was good and cordial. Vizianagaram SDPO K.K.
