Complaint Cell to be opened in Collectorate

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: A special ‘Complaint Cell’ would be opened in the Collectorate to receive complaints and grievances of the people, Collector N. Sridhar stated here on Sunday. The people could either lodge their problems over telephone (248000) or in writing.

During his visits to different parts of the district for the last 10 days the people had complained that officials at mandal and village level were not attending their offices in time or staying absent for days together. Implementation of the Government schemes would be hit with such irregular functioning of the officials at the field level, the Collector said.

As a result, resentment was developing against the Government from people as well as the elected representatives.

The complaint cell was being set up to streamline the derailed systems in the district, he noted. The phone line of the complaint cell would be available to the people from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.

Written complaints

The written complaints should contain the name and addresses of the complainants clearly so that it would be helpful in taking up an inquiry into the grievances. If somebody was not willing to expose themselves, they should explain the problem clearly so that the higher officials could take up inquiry. The details like officials seeking money from people should be clearly mentioned, he suggested.

Each complaint would be documented in a register and after compiling them officials like Joint Collector or Project Directors would study the complaints and take up an inquiry, if necessary. Cases of high importance would be taken to the notice of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Departments. Seeking cooperation from the officials for taking the district on the path of development, the Collector urged the people not to misuse the facility.
