Puducherry: Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy will review schemes and programmes run by the Social Welfare and other departments coming under his jurisdiction at a meeting of officials here on Wednesday. He told newsmen on Tuesday that he would urge the officials to ensure that benefits of welfare schemes should reach the targeted sections without delay. The Minister will seek the cooperation of officials for speedy execution of welfare programmes. Mr. Kandasamy was sworn in as Welfare Minister on Sunday last and has been allocated the subjects of Social Welfare, Adi Dravidar Welfare, Women and Child Welfare, Urban Basic Services Scheme besides Fire Services. Separate meeting
The Minister said that he would convene separately a meeting of officials of various departments on June 27 to review utilisation of funds earmarked under Special Component Plan (SCP) exclusively for the benefit of the downtrodden sections. He said he would ensure that the SCP funds are not diverted to other programmes. The Ambedkar Manimandapam, which is under construction at a cost of Rs.1 crore on Beach Road here, will be inaugurated soon, he said.
