Karunanidhi a proposer

CHENNAI: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi on Tuesday night obtained the signature of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi as one of the proposers of the United Progressive Alliance-Left presidential nominee, Pratibha Patil.

Later, Mr. Dasmunsi, who is also the Information and Broadcasting Minister, told newspersons that he came to Chennai to convey the greetings of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Mr. Karunanidhi. Both of them wanted the DMK leader to be one of the proposers.

In the morning, both Ms. Gandhi and Dr. Singh signed for Ms. Patil’s candidature in New Delhi.

The UPA-Left nominee would win the election hands down, Mr. Dasmunsi said..
