LONDON: India’s Rohan Bopanna lost a dramatic three-set battle to Wesley Moodie in the first round of the Wimbledon qualifying championships here on Monday. Moodie, a former Wimbledon doubles champion, prevailed 3-6, 6-1, 19-17 in a contest that featured excellent serving. The third set was a battle of parity until Bopanna appeared to sustain a leg injury at 16-17. He underwent treatment, but was broken in the 35th game. Moodie finished the match with an ace. Moodie later complimented Bopanna’s “high percentage of first serves.”
