Soldier’s wife raped in Jammu cantonment

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Army headquarters was shocked here following reports of a serving soldier’s wife being raped in a high security cantonment on the outskirts of Jammu on Monday night.

Entry restricted

The inference among senior officers is that the perpetrator could be from within their ranks since entry into all cantonments in Jammu and Kashmir is severely restricted after several suicide attacks by militants on Army establishments a couple of years ago.

According to information received here from Army sources, the alleged rape took place at 2 a.m. and after an FIR was lodged, the soldier’s wife was sent for medical examination on Tuesday .
