MLA promises ration cards to poor

KADAPA: N. Varadarajulu Reddy, Proddatur MLA, on Tuesday promised issue of new ration cards to eligible poor who were not covered in the past.

Mr. Reddy, Proddatur municipal chairperson E. Malleswari and PCC member E.V. Sudhakar Reddy gave away rice, oil, wheat flour and Bengal gram worth Rs. 7,500 to each woman of 10 DWCRA groups of 36th ward under Food Security Scheme in Proddatur.

He assured a resurvey by revenue officials of households whose inmates were away during issue of ration cards.

The MLA suggested purchase of quality rice from mills as rice purchased at higher prices elsewhere lacked in quality.

He called upon women to join DWCRA groups and avail benefits extended by the Government.

Women should ensure proper functioning of the groups and strengthen themselves economically.
