Nominate Dalits to Council: DSS

Bangalore: The Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (N. Murthy group) has appealed to Janata Dal (S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to reserve two out of the five Legislative Council nominations for Scheduled Caste candidates.

DSS president N. Murthy told presspersons here on Tuesday that Council nominations in the recent past had become an exercise in “political rehabilitation”, robbing the Upper House of its sanctity.

The JD(S) should prove its “secular and socialist credentials” by reserving seats for Scheduled Caste candidates, he added.
