Chennai: The Chennai Central -Mysore Shatabdi Express has been awarded the ISO 9000:2000 certification for maintenance. With a view to make the journey pleasant, comfortable and memorable, passenger amenities in the Shatabdi Express are being upgraded by Southern Railway. Facilities
The coaches have been provided with cell phone chargers, centralised music system, automatic atomized room aroma dispenser and auto janitors in toilets. Kwalitet Veritas Quality Assurance, New Delhi, which studied the quality of the passenger amenities awarded the accreditation. The certificate was handed over to Southern Railway General Manager Thomas Varghese at a function here on Tuesday. Maintenance
The train is being maintained by Train Care Centre, Basin Bridge, which maintains about 509 coaches (39 trains) every day. The centre obtained ISO 9001:2001accredition in October 2005 for excellence in maintenance activities and skilled workforce. Chennai Divisional Railway Manager Man Singh said the centre would work for getting certification for other trains also.
