THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Education M.A. Baby has said that the State Government will organise the Reading Week celebrations with the participation of local bodies and library councils from next year. He was speaking after inaugurating the State-level Reading Week/Day celebrationx organised jointly by the Education Department, the P.N. Panicker Foundation and the Information and Public Relations Department in the city on Tuesday. Mr. Baby urged the students to cultivate the habit of reading along with their studies. “Read as much as you can. Reading will give you a new perspective,” he said. Hundreds of students waving placards bearing messages on the importance of reading attended the function. The Education Minister lauded the role played by P.N. Panicker in spreading the library movement across the State. The inaugural function was followed by ‘Guruvandanam,’ a programme where children sought blessings from eminent personalities like K.E. Mammen, Neyyattinkara Vasudevan Nair, Nabeesa Ummal and C.G. Ramachandran Nair.
