Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: A police constable recently transferred to Gurazala police station, reportedly committed suicide at his home in Narasaraopet on Monday. The cop identified as, T. Rama Rao (40) set himself ablaze in the bathroom of his house on Monday morning. He died on the way to the hospital. The incident came to light a day later, as the family members tried to keep the incident under wraps, police said.

Rao, attached to the Narasaraopet police station, has been recently transferred to Gurazala. Not happy with the move, he had reportedly taken to drinking and allegedly passed lewd comments against his neighbours.

Enraged with his behaviour, the neighbours warned the family of dire consequences. Rao left the house on Thursday and returned on Monday.

When his family confronted him, a dejected Rao went inside the bathroom, doused himself with the kerosene and set himself ablaze. Police are investigating the case.
