Thiruvananthapuram: Two cases of malaria and 27 fever cases, suspected to be chikungunya, were reported from the district on Tuesday. The malaria cases were not indigenous and those diagnosed as having the disease had got the disease following a trip to Mangalapuram. Both patients are residents of Pozhiyoor and are undergoing treatment. Suspected chikungunya cases were reported from Perumkadavila, Vellarada, Nedumangad and Attingal. Eight medical camps organised by the Health Department and the army medical team in the district were attended by 2,921 persons. However, only 405 persons reported fever. The maximum attendance was at the General Dispensary Valiathura, where 1,505 persons had attended the ‘health mela’ organised by the National Rural Health Mission. The army medical camps were held at Paravoor and Uzhamalakkal. The army will organise two camps at Poovachal panchayaton Wednesday.
