Kakinada: The Cocanada Chamber of Commerce has suggested that the Government immediately convene a joint meeting at Hyderabad with MLAs, officials and shipping trade members to find out a suitable solution for coping with increasing cargo traffic at the anchorage port. A delegation of the Chamber led by Dantu Suryarao, chairman, called on Minister for Ports M V Ramanarao here on Tuesday and presented a memorandum seeking construction of at least 10 more jetties in addition to strengthening the existing 24 jetties to ensure quick turnaround of loading and unloading operations. The chamber requested the Minister to construct additional godowns or lease out the port land to port users for construction of godowns on their own to meet the covered space shortage. It suggested revival of the AP minor ports development board that became defunct almost one decade ago.
