BANGALORE: A two-year-old girl was seriously injured when a stray dog bit her early on Tuesday morning near her residence at 9th cross, Bhairaveshwarinagar in Nagarabhavi.
Hemalatha was playing in front of her house while her mother Rajeswari was busy with housework. Around 6 a.m., the dog attacked her and bit her on her left eye. She also sustained injuries on her face and cheeks. A profusely bleeding Hemalatha was taken to Vani Vilas hospital for treatment, her father Jyothiappa, a daily wage labourer said. Earlier, doctors at Minto Eye Hospital examined her for any permanent damage to her eyes.
A Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike release said that the girl had been given anti-rabies and tetanus injections.
The release also added that stray dogs in the area were rounded up by Animal Rights Fund, the NGO implementing the Animal Birth Control programme in the area along with BBMP personnel. The area has had several instances of dog bites being reported over the past few months.
