Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Retired Judges Welfare Association has requested the Government to consider the appointment of retired district and sub-judges alone as Presidents of District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forums in the State. This resolution was adopted at the association’s general body meeting here a few days ago. Another resolution thanked the Government for sanctioning domestic help allowance of Rs.1,250 a month and medical allowance of Rs.100 a month and for extending medical facilities to retired judges on par with sitting MLAs as per the orders of the Supreme Court, according to a press release. While M. Sowundarapandian was elected president, P. Perumalappan was elected secretary, M.Abdul Vahab, vice-president, V.Kenga Subbaiah, joint secretary and D.Bhaskar treasurer of the association for two years. — Special Correspondent
