KOCHI: Revenue officials in the Kunnathunadu taluk on Tuesday recovered 13 cents by evicting six encroachments on road ‘poramboke’ in the Vengola village limits. Rain affected the progress of the survey in a couple of taluks. The land recovered was worth about Rs.6.5 lakh, an official said. The survey, which continued in the Perumbavur town near the fish market region, detected more than 20 encroachments. However, notices had not been served in these cases as it was yet to be determined whether the municipality was the authority over the land surveyed in the region, the official said. Meanwhile, three persons produced title deeds for the land, which was purportedly encroached upon. The authenticity of these documents was yet to be verified, he said. In the Kothamangalam taluk, a hotelier, who encroached upon the land from which he was evicted, on Tuesday took corrective measures voluntarily to restore the land to the revenue authorities, an official said. The survey in the Angamaly town region opposite Little Flower Hospital prima facie detected more than 10 encroachments in the 25 cases examined. In the Paravur taluk, seven notices were served on encroachers in the Varapuzha village whereas in Kanayannur and Muvattupuzha taluks rain hit the survey process. In Kochi taluk, as the revenue officials were busy attending monsoon-related calamities no survey was held on Tuesday.
