Land struggle: CPI(M) accused of collecting money from poor
HYDERABAD: The Congress party has accused CPI(M) leaders of collecting money from the poor promising them house sites although the Government is giving them free of cost.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Ministers -- B. Satyanarayana and N. Rajyalakshmi -- said the CPI(M) movement, ‘Bhoo Poratam’, was unnecessary as the Government was sincerely implementing its election promise of providing Indiramma houses to the poor. The Ministers claimed there was conclusive proof that the CPI(M) leaders in Nellore had collected money from the gullible poor promising them house sites while the district administration had already identified 6,600 beneficiaries to allot pucca houses at Kottur near Nellore. Continued agitation for thatched huts instead of pucca houses was ridiculous, they said.
