Thiruvananthapuram: The conclusion of the first stage of the Akshaya computer literacy programme being organised by the Kerala State Information Technology Mission in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts has been extended from June 30 to September 30. Director of Akshaya K. Anvar Sadat said here on Wednesday that the work related to the second stage had been launched at the Akshaya centres in the district which had achieved 60 per cent computer literacy or had taught 2,000 persons. The second stage involved the conversion of the Akshaya centres into centres for the service of the people (Janasevana Kendras) by introducing e-pay which would enable the payment of electricity, telephone, mobile and water bills and university fee, e-krishi which would enable the use of IT for the marketing of agricultural produce and e-ticket for railway ticket booking. The Local Self-Government Institutions were expected to finalise the places for setting up the centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad and Wayanad districts.
