Prasanna shocks Nikhat Bhanu

HYDERABAD: S. Prasanna Devi of South Central Railway shocked favourite Nikhat Bhanu (GSM) 11-8, 11-9, 5-11, 11-5, 11-9 to set up a title-clash with P. Sri Lakshmi of Postal. Sri Lakshmi put it across her teammate Anupa Ruth 11-6, 11-4, 11-7, 10-12, 11-3 in the women’s singles semi-finals of the GHMC Open table tennis tournament here

Match abandoned

Heavy rains forced abandonment of the scheduled match between Sports Authority of India (STC Secunderabad) and Accountant General (AP) in the A-1 division hockey league championship here.
Olympic Day run

The Olympic Day Run will be organised by the AP Olympic Association on June 23 from seven different centres in the twin cities with about 30,000 expected to participate, according to A.P. Jitender Reddy, ex-MP and vice-president of APOA.

Briefing the media here, Reddy said that athletes would simultaneously participate in the torch relays from each district and would assemble at the Lal Bahadur Stadium on June 23 where the Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would receive the torches.
Road races

The Hyderabad District Athletic Association will organise Hyderabad 10K road races at Post Graduate College (Secunderabad) on June 24 from 6.00 a.m. Competitions will be held for men and women and boys and girls (under-18) in six km and for other age groups in two and four km events. Easy for New Everest

New Everest CC scored a five-wicket victory over Siddhartha Silver Jubilee Cricket Academy in the Kartagadda Madhusudhana Rao memorial Krishna District ‘A’ division tournament at Vijayawada.

The scores: Siddhartha Silver Jubilee CA 126 in 30.3 overs (Ch. Nitin 54) lost to New Everest CC 127 for five in 23 overs.
