Indian team arrives in Belfast



WARM WELCOME: Members of the Indian cricket team arrive at the George Best Belfast City Airport, Northern Ireland, on Wednesday.

Belfast: The 15-member Indian cricket team, led by skipper Rahul Dravid, on Wednesday flew in here to play a three-match one-day international series against South Africa in Ireland.

The team, accompanied by cricket manager Chandu Borde, will begin its 80-day tour of the United Kingdom by playing the first match of the off-shore series against Ireland at Belfast on June 23. The four-match ODI series against South Africa will follow it from June 26 at the same venue.

After the series, India will travel to Scotland to take on Pakistan in a one-off ODI clash at Glasgow on July 3, the proceeds of which would go to the Prince Charles Charitable Trust.

The players would then move to England to take on the host in a three-Test series, which would be followed by seven one-dayers.

The itinerary: India’s tour of Ireland and England:

June 23: One-off ODI, India vs. Ireland, Belfast.

ODI series against South Africa:

June 26: First ODI, Belfast; June 29: Second ODI, Belfast; July 1: Third ODI, Belfast.

June 3: One-off ODI against Pakistan, Glasgow.

Test series against England:

July 19-23: First Test, Lord’s, London; July 27-31: Second Test, Trent Bridge, Nottingham; Aug. 9 to 13: Third Test, Kennington Oval, London

Aug. 16: One-off ODI against Scotland, Glasgow.

ODI series against England:

Aug 21: First ODI, Rose Bowl, Southampton; Aug. 24: Second ODI, County Ground, Bristol; Aug. 27: Third ODI, Edgbaston, Birmingham; Aug. 30: Fourth ODI, Old Trafford, Manchester; Sept. 2: Fifth ODI, Headingley, Leeds; Sept. 5: Sixth ODI, Kennington Oval, London; Sept. 8: Seventh ODI, Lord’s, London. — PTI
