BANGALORE: The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has slapped a penalty of Rs. 5 lakh on a private building owner for dumping debris on the pavement near South End Circle near Diwan Mahadav Rao Park in the city on Wednesday. The penalty was levied following a directive by BBMP Commissioner K. Jairaj who inspected roads being upgraded under the Karnataka Municipal Reforms Project (KMRP). The Commissioner noticed that the debris on the pavement was obstructing pedestrian movement. Similarly, a penalty of Rs. 1 lakh was slapped on another building owner for dumping debris on the pavement near Tirumala Venkateshwara Temple in J.P. Nagar 8th Cross, according to a press release from the BBMP. The Commissioner inspected work on upgrading Diwan Madhav Rao Road, 9th Cross, J.P. Nagar, Bannerghatta Main Road, and BTM Ring Road.
