‘Death due to natural causes’

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police on Wednesday said the death of a 33-year-old man -- whose relatives alleged that he died because of the beating he received at the hands of a traffic police personnel in Moti Nagar on June 9 – was due to natural causes.

A resident of Shakurpur at Saraswati Vihar, Jawaharlal was admitted to Krishna Nursing Home at Pitampura this past Sunday and later shifted to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital where he died on Monday.

“The allegations that he died because of injuries inflicted on him by a traffic police personnel are misplaced as is evident from the delay in reporting the incident to the police,” said a police officer.

The police said Jawaharlal’s death certificate issued by the hospital authorities mentioned “cardio respiratory arrest” as the cause of death.
