This Day That Age
Sugar production in India in 1956-57 totalled 20.5 lakh tons, a record figure since 1947, according to an official press release. The total availability of sugar during the year, the release said, would be about 25.8 lakh tons, including 5.3 lakh tons carried over from previous year.
