12 killed as bus plunges into gorge in Himachal Pradesh

TRAGIC END: Grieving relatives of bus accident victims in New Delhi on Thursday.

Shimla: Twelve people were killed and 25 injured when a bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge at Charan Khad in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night.

The injured were admitted to the Rajendra Prased Medical College Hospital at Tanda and the PGI in Chandigarh. Most of the tourists were from Patel Nagar in Delhi.

Relief announced

Two years ago, on the same date, 19 Gujarati tourists were killed and 20 injured when their bus plunged into a gorge at the same place

State Transport Minister G.S. Bali announced an immediate relief of Rs 25,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead. The State Government would make arrangements to ferry the dead to their native places, he said, adding a magisterial inquiry into accident has been ordered.
