Puducherry: A memorandum, handed over on Wednesday by a delegation of Puducherry Footwear Merchants Association to Chief Minister N.Rangasamy, sought to exclude all foot wears costing Rs.350 and below from Value Added Tax. The moulded footwear and hand-made products should be levied a 4 per cent tax under the new tax regime in the Union Territory. A release from the association said that the Chief Minister had assured the merchants that he would go into their plea and initiate action. — Special Correspondent
