Harish, a familiar voice of racing

MYSORE: The familiar voice all over India at the racing centres for the last three decades, is no more.

S.N. Harish was born on Febraury 25, 1955 at Nanjangud. After his primary education there, he did his graduation from the Bhanumaiah College, Mysore. After giving up the permanent job at BTC, Harish became a freelance commentator. He gave commentary for more than 10,000 races all over India.

His passion for the sport was limitless and in pursuit of excellence he travelled to Hong Kong, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

Apart from commentating, he wrote articles in The Hindu and in indiarace.com.

His company, Compass India, made documentaries on horse racing and racing personalities.

His documentaries on Major P.K. Mehra, Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy, Smart Chieftain, Poonawalla Stud Farm, Bangalore Turf Club Ltd, invitation races, are a few to mention.

Appreciation for his event management at the 94th Indian Science Congress held in Chidambaram in January this year was one more feather in his cap.
