THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The membership campaign of the Thiruvananthapuram district branch of the Indian Red Cross was inaugurated on Thursday by Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajasekharan at the Government Guest House, Thycaud. The first person to be enrolled by the Minister was V.A. Ajesh. Kumar. A press release here said the Minister lauded the activities of the Red Cross. The office-bearers of the Red Cross briefed the Minister about the spread of viral fever in the State and sought additional Central assistance for tackling the spread of the fever. The Minister agreed to consider the request. District secretary of the Red Cross K.S. Sivarajan, among others, were present on the occasion.
