4 girl students killed as culvert caves in

BHUBANESWAR: Four girl students were killed and five other girls were injured when a culvert caved in near Asti village of Balasore district on Thursday.

The incident occurred at around 1.30 p.m. when the victims, belonging to the Subarnarekha Upper Primary School, had gone out of the school to play during the lunch break.

According to reports reaching here, while three girls died on the spot, one succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital.

The injured girls were rushed to the Balasore district hospital.

However, two of them were shifted to the Shriram Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.
