Coimbatore: In addition to some novel post-graduate degree courses, the Bharathiar University has introduced post-graduate diploma courses for graduates and post-graduates.

The Department of Tamil will offer a PG diploma in Tamil in Mass Communication with DTP Applications.

The course will include practical training to enable students to work in the media, or become entrepreneurs. Publishing books and typing skills in Tamil will also be taught.

PG diploma in Applied Health Sciences will help students get a comprehensive view of the health sciences and enable them get jobs in the departments of health and pollution control, in hospitals and health information services.

PG diploma in Bioinformatics will train students to deal with database management, work as bioinformatics consultants, etc.

PG diploma in Nanotechnology will be offered to post-graduate students of physics, chemistry and biology. The course will provide them with advanced practical skills and knowledge in nanotechnology.

PG diploma in Yoga will be offered to all graduate students. On completion of the course, they can work as instructors.

PG diploma in Entrepreneurship will inculcate entrepreneurial skills in the students. They will also be taught legal requirements of starting and running a successful business. PG diploma in Career Guidance will expose students to career counselling, guidance, planning, etc. It will also teach them to develop websites, MS access, HTML, Intrapage and e-mail links.

Admissions will be open till July 15.
