ADILABAD: Adilabad District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) S. Vignanachary on Thursday reassured people about the department’s readiness to tackle any outbreak of epidemics this season. He said medicines for malaria and water-borne diseases were being sent to primary health centres in sufficient quantity. The DMHO, along with District Malaria Officer (DMO) A. Ravi, told reporters that 472 cases of diarrhoea were reported from the mandals of Tandur, Tamsi, Sirpur (U), Gudihatnoor, Asifabad, Narnoor and Jainoor during the past weeks. However, medical teams had moved to these areas to control the disease, he added. Medical teams involving officials from Rural Water Supply, District Panchayat Office, Panchayat Raj, Women and Child Welfare, Education and Public Relations Department at district and mandal levels have been formed to take preventive measures , Dr. Vignanachary said. At village level one functionary will be in charge of overseeing the preventive measures and monitoring subsequent situation in the epidemic season.
