KADAPA: Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy on Thursday said that steps would be taken to ensure that qualitative education was imparted on a par with corporate schools to students of the poor, downtrodden and weaker sections studying in the municipal corporation schools. All required facilities such as science and computer laboratories, libraries and reading rooms would be provided in the schools by spending crores of rupees, he said after inaugurating four classrooms built in Indira Municipal Corporation primary school in the 21st division here. Steps would be taken to check shortage of teachers besides construction of additional classrooms and compound walls for schools, he said. The Mayor promised merit awards and cash prizes to the toppers, to promote a competitive spirit among students. The Mayor, MLA and corporators distributed textbooks among the students. Municipal cooption member Peter presented Rs. 1,000 to Ramana, SSC topper (520 marks) among municipal corporation schools.
