Two more welfare boards formed

Chennai: The Government on Thursday formed welfare boards for autorickshaw and taxi drivers and for tailoring workers.

According to an official press release, the Tamil Nadu Autorickshaw and Taxi Drivers Welfare Board will be headed by the Transport Minister with Labour Commissioner, Transport Commissioner, Chennai City Police Commissioner, Joint Secretary (Finance Department), and Law Secretary as official members. It will have 12 non-official members, five representatives of employers and seven of drivers.

The Minister for Labour will head the Tamil Nadu Tailoring Workers’ Welfare Board, which will have Labour Commissioner, Finance Secretary, Law Secretary, and Director of Social Welfare as official members. There will be 13 non-official members, seven representing employers and 6 workers’ representatives, the release added. — Special Correspondent
