Appeal to Sonia on President

Bangalore: The former All-India Congress Committee member T.D.R. Harishchandra has urged AICC president Sonia Gandhi to choose a popular national leader as the presidential candidate.

In a letter to Ms. Gandhi, copies of which were released here on Thursday, Mr. Harishchandra said the candidate should be one who would evoke a positive response from the National Democratic Alliance and regional parties. This would help in the unanimous election of the President. — Special Correspondent
