MLC warns of agitation

BANGALORE: Janata Dal (United) national general secretary M.P. Nadagouda, MLC, has warned that the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) will launch an agitation on the lines of that of the Gujjars in Rajasthan if the Government fails to appoint a chairman and members to the Backward Classes Commission.

In a press release here on Wednesday, Dr. Nadagouda said that the commission had no chairman or members since March 2006. The Union Government had given a grant of Rs. 25 crore in its 2004-05 Budget for a caste-wise survey. But the activities of the commission had been stalled, he said. — Special Correspondent
