GUNTUR: An eight-year-old inmate of B.C. Welfare Hostel, Old Guntur, Mehaboob Subani, died under suspicious circumstances at the Government General Hospital here on Thursday. Hostel authorities said Subani, a Fourth Standard student has been suffering from Diarrhoea and admitted to the GGH in the early hours. The boy hailed from Minnikallu village in Santhamaguluru mandal in Prakasam district and had been residing at the hostel for the past one week. His parents, both of them daily wagers, dropped him at the hostel on June 16 and the hostel authorities claimed that they were yet to receive the filled-in application form. However, he was admitted to class 4 and continued to reside in the hostel. Subani complained of loose motions late last night and again in the morning. The hostel staff informed the hostel warden, who rushed Subani to the GGH. However, he could not recover and died. District B.C. welfare officer D.R.K. Aruna said that she had ordered for a probe into the incident and the enquiry report would be submitted to the District Collector.
