GUNTUR: Four persons, convicted of murdering a person in Ganikapudi village of Prattipadu mandal in Guntur district in May 1998, were awarded life imprisonment here on Thursday. The dispute arose between two groups of Muslims over the maintenance of the Masjid in the village. Eighth additional sessions fast track court judge G Vijay Kumar delivered the judgment sentencing four persons Abdul Nabi, Shaik Sardar, Shaik Karimulla and Syed Shabeer for killing the same villager Khaji Bude. Ganikapudi Muslims were divided into two groups. One group was led by Shaik Imam Bude and another by his rival Shaik Daria Husain. The victim Shaik Khaji is the follower of second group leader Daria Husain. The two groups clashed on May 7, 1998 during Moharram.
