GUNTUR: Three persons died at different places in Guntur district on Thursday as lightning struck them while they were in fields attending to agriculture work or rearing sheep, while another woman died of electric shock at Narsaraopet while it was raining. Low pressure in the Bay of Bengal brought widespread rains in the district, but lightning strikes killed three persons: 23-year old graduate, Medha Sambasiva Rao, who had ventured out at Atthaluru village in Amaravathi mandal, was struck by lightening on Thursday evening. He had completed B. Ed course and was searching for a job and meanwhile helping the family in agricultural work, when lightening struck. He was killed on the spot. Amaravathi Circle Inspector said that at Lagadapadu village in Pedakurapadu mandal Ramachandrapu Venkateswarlu, while rearing sheep fell victim to the lightening and Jangam Bullabbai, 35, of Hussain Nagaram village in the same mandal also fell victim to the lightning while he was attending to agriculture work in his fields. A fruits vendor Jayamma, 30, got electrocuted while she tried to remove an electric wire in the evening when it began raining.
