Fellowship amounts raised for JNU students

NEW DELHI: The fellowship amount paid to M.Phil. and Ph.D. students at Jawaharlal Nehru University here has been raised from Rs.1,500 per month to Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 5,000, respectively.

“Consequent upon the decision of the University Grants Commission for granting fellowship to M.Phil. and Ph.D. students and subsequent release of funds, the fellowship has been raised from Rs.1,500 per month to Rs.3,000 per month for M.Phil. students and Rs. 5,000 per month for Ph.D. students from the month of April 2007,” said a JNU release on Thursday.

The M.Phil. and Ph.D. students from the Science stream will also be given a contingency grant of Rs.10,000 per annum whereas those from other streams will receive Rs. 8,000 per annum.

“The B.A. and M.A. and M.Sc. students will continue to receive merit-cum-means at Rs.1,000 per month as before,” it added.
