Plea to modernise pottery industry

Special Correspondent

“Arrival of plastic goods spelt doom for pottery workers”

CHENNAI: Thanking the State Government for forming the Tamil Nadu Pottery Workers Welfare Board, its chairman Sema Narayanan has appealed to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to support the pottery industry by modernising it and waiving the loans taken by workers.

Mr. Narayanan said the arrival of plastic goods had spelt doom for the five lakh pottery workers.

They were not able to provide proper education to their children.

Charter of demands

The Board placed before the members a 56-point charter of demands.
