Full-time check on rainwater catch pits

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to man the rainwater catch pits round the clock, deploying two men at each point for speedily draining out water during the rainy season.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the officials held on Thursday. A statement from GHMC said that 50 to 60 points out of the 240 points have been identified as vulnerable. These points are on major arterial roads like Lakdikapul to Mehdipatnam, Ameerpet to Punjagutta, Basheerbagh to Chikkadpally, Lower Tank Bund to RTC Crossroads, Ashoknagar and Musheerabad areas. Officials have been cautioned to keep a vigil round the clock of these points. The engineering wing has also been instructed to provide radium-laminated jackets to the labourers for easy identification.
